Spread the love

Where did February go? Seriously this year is flying by already. I think part of it has to do with how many days my children have been out of school and time just gets away from me as far as working on things. I hope everyone else is doing well with their goals and priorities. This month, I haven’t made much progress to be honest. Again, has to do with how many days the kids were home from school due to weather.

Here is a re-cap of my priorities and goals for this year.

Personal Priorities for 2014

1. Loose 30 pounds – Being on prednisone for a year has had some negative consequences
2. Catch up on the scrapbooks for the kids – I’m 2 years behind!
3. Complete a list of 101 goals to be completed in 1001 days, which I will post up on Detours in Life
4. Complete my sewing projects
5. Write weekly in my journal
6. Make a quilt

Blog/Business Goals

1. Launch the Road Trip Survival blog and reach 5,000 views per month
2. Reach 30,000 views per month on Detours in Life
3. Attend 1 blog conference
4. Set up an Etsy store and start selling my own products
5. Publish 2 e-books
6. Solid Business Plan

1. Spend more quality time together by having weekly activities with each child.
2. Focus more on the positive instead of the negative.
3. Be more respectful of each other and the house
(I realize these are not measurable, but I will know I have accomplished them when things start to be better and happier)

1. Learn to adhere to our budget
2. Pay off two debts

House Projects

1. Good cleaning schedule that I can stick with.
2. Re-do the kids rooms
3. Re-do the dining room
4. Re-do the office
5. Re-do hallway upstairs/stairs/entry way
6. Start kitchen/living room remodel
7. Paint the exterior shutters

I have started back on my lower carb diet plan to address those 30 pounds from the prednisone. I’m hoping to get off at least 10 in the next month prior to us going on a mini-vacation over the kids spring break. We are surprising them with a 3 night Disney Cruise. Can’t wait to get away! I need it so badly.

As for the business goals, still working on getting more organized and working on the overall business plan for all the blogs. Road Trip did launch this month and should hit 500 page views this month which is a great re-launch! Detours took months to reach that level but I wasn’t promoting it as much when I started. Since we only have a few post a week over there, it’s a slow and steady growth that I’m after. Detours has hit a bit of a speed bump. My traffic in February has been down compared to December and January which is frustrating. It’s a speed bump but not impossible hurdle to overcome.

We are gearing up to start on the entry way, hallway, and dining room make overs after we get back from our cruise and the kids get back in to school from spring break.

For financial and family priorities, I’m behind in those areas. For family priorities, things with my daughter have been rough the last few months. My daughter has an auditory processing disorder along with sensory issues and is behind socially. All of these things have led to some behavioral issues that we have been battling. It’s been about surviving rather than adding in activities with them. The other things is that the two kids are fighting constantly! My husband and I are only children so we didn’t have those fights growing up and aren’t sure what is completely normal and what isn’t. I mean, these kids fight all the time over everything! Mainly, it’s little brother not listening to me when I say to leave his older sister alone. He just has to go and mess with her and then things start flying across the room. Argh!

March is going to be a jam packed month with getting ready for the cruise and actually going on the trip. It will be a bit un-nerving to be disconnected for 3 days but I’m sure I will survive and so will the blogs.
