This is a salad that I grew up with, My Grandmother and my Mother both made it for family get togethers and it brings back a lot of fond memories. This Fresh Layered Salad is so simple to put together and you can customize it with different fresh veggies that you have on hand or appeal to you. This recipe is great as stated below, but get creative and try out new combinations! Let me know what your favorite combinations have been as I’m always looking for great ideas to change up recipes.
I started by making the dressing using a pack of ranch dressing, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Mix well and let chill in the refrigerator while you work on the rest of the salad.
I washed my lettuce and broccoli well and began shredding the the head of lettuce. *Make sure the lettuce is dried off well so extra moisture isn’t in the salad* I laid down a layer of lettuce on the bottom of a dish. You could use a casserole dish or a nice glass bowl. On top of that, I took my broccoli and chopped into smaller pieces and layered it on top of the lettuce.
I then put on a really thin layer of the dressing mix.
Next, another layer of lettuce. I took a bag of frozen steamer peas and cooked those in the microwave and let them cool. I layered those on top of the lettuce and added a final layer of dressing.
Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bacon. Cover and let the salad sit up in the refrigerator overnight or if you need it for the evening, make the salad first thing in the morning and refrigerate all day.
