We are at the half way point in this 31 Day Challenge and although things aren’t where I want them yet, I’m pleased with the progress. The kids are doing MUCH better in the mornings as far as getting ready to go out the door to school. They are doing better with not talking back as much. Things are getting to be less chaotic.

As for me, I’m not dreading getting up in the morning as much because things are running a lot smoother. However, I still have some work to do with the afternoons and weekends (or days they are off from school). The end of this week will certainly be a test since the kids will be home due to Fall Break from school Thursday and Friday. I am looking forward to Wednesday night as both kids will be spending the night with their grandparents and spending some of the day there on Thursday. Can I tell you I’m super excited to have a night off and a morning to actually sleep in! It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten to sleep in without anyone here to bother me, so I’m really looking forward to it.

One thing I am hoping to work on the rest of the month is getting back to taking time for myself. I have a tendency to want to be involved so much that I’m really wearing myself out with commitments at their school right now. I need to find that fine line of being involved but learning how to say “no” sometimes. I really do enjoy it though and I enjoy getting to know the staff and the kids. It melts my heart when the kids say Hi to me and run up to give me a hug. Much better than the recognition that I used to get at my job, or should I say lack of recognition.

So, as we move through this last part of the month with the kids I want to work more on the weekends, implement a few more key rules, and for me take more time to recharge so I’ll be a better Mom. I hope you will stick with me, this has been much more challenging than I thought it would be but I’m determined to finish and have some good come of it.
