Time for another low carb Monday dish and today it’s all about turkey burgers! I found a recipe for Asian Turkey Burgers that worked out well. I had mine without a bun with some grilled pineapple pieces and some steamed broccoli. It was a great low carb meal! The original recipe calls for using all white meat ground turkey, however, that would make these way to dry. I used regular ground turkey and they came out great!
I started out with a little under 1 lb of ground turkey in a mixing bowl.
I added all the ingredients below to the turkey mixture, and mixed gently being careful not to over mix.
I formed the patties. They were somewhat difficult to form and keep together. I made them smaller than I normally do so they would not fall apart.
Place on the grill and cook until done all the way through, at least 165˚. I also took some fresh pineapple and placed it on skewers and grilled that to go along with these yummy burgers!
Easy Asian Turkey Burgers
1 lb ground turkey
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tsp grated ginger
3 green onions, thinly chopped
1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (I eliminated these since I didn’t have any)
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix gently. Do not overmix.
2. Form the turkey mixture in to patties.
3. Pre-heat your grill.
4. Grill the turkey burgers until cooked through. I would suggest checking the temperature to ensure it is at least at 165˚. With turkey, you don’t want it undercooked as that may cause illness.
5. Serve without the bun to keep this low carb. If you have those that don’t eat low carb, serve on a bun with lettuce and tomato.
